Processor:

Minimum: Intel Pentium 4 1.3 GHz or AMD Athlon XP 1500+
Recommended: Dual-core processor, such as the Intel Pentium D or AMD Athlon 64 X2

Memory:

Minimum: 512 MB RAM (1GB for Vista users)
Recommended: 1 GB RAM (2 GB for Vista users)

Video:

So after reading this i have come to the conclusion you should be able to run WoW on it, though an upgrade in video graphics card would not hurt ;D thats the only part im not 100% on.

but i do have an old school inspiron from like 4 years ago and it runs that shit, so you really should be fine.

that computer will have some bomb ass lagg..... don't go dell just because of brand name. I hate people who buy brand name without logical reason

I BUY HONDA BECAUSE THEY LAST FOREVER.....so does any car that a person repairs...not that hondas are made from indestructable adamantium or something.

I BUY ALIENWARE BECUASE IT'S AWSUM......so is sager notebooks if you think you really need the bleeding edge of technology.....and it's about a thousand dollars less.

I BUY APPLE CUZ LESS SPYWAREZ......well...get a fucking good virus scanner for your windows computer and you'll actually be better off in the long haul.

the list goes on and on..... i hate people "that buy stuff cuz"

i honestly would highly suggest you get something with at least a dedicated graphics card...even of the lowest quality.

I'll link you my computer, it's actually very nice, i was shocked as to how good it was when i purchased it. Currently it's 700 down at best buy, but they're sure to come out with something better before Xmas.

Edit......apparently they've discontinued my model already, in all actuality i'm not supprised, it's a pretty BA computer for 700 bucks.

it's got a full keyboard, 500gb hard drive,5 gigs of ram, 2.2 dual core centrino processor, a dedicated graphics card that i cant remember exactly the # but i do know that it was an AMD card comparable to the 8700 gpu for desktop computers.

it runs WoW on medium - high settings in most situations, in Dala-clusterfuck-ran i've got to turn the settings down quite a bit, so because of that i usually just keep them way down.

In dalaran i get about 35fps, out pvping or grinding i get about 80-90

ALSO, i thought that i should point out that jibblet's computer from 4 years ago was probably used for the trial version and never used in a majorly congested area or a raid environment....graphics cards are very important.

I'm going to be perfectly honest and say it now, just look at graphics cards.....the rest of the crap inside of the computer doesn't matter these days because they've upgraded those pieces above and beyond the processing requirements of almost any game, it's the graphics card that never gets much attention as far as upgrading goes because not many people game........

So just keep an eye out for a nice graphics card and you'll be fine.

A remember you.

I bought a Dell with extreme logic behind it, but yes I agree with you, I too hate people who buy brand names without reason.

"OMG, Alienwarez is the godliest gaming machines ever!"
"Apple's are so cute and they won't blow up on me liek a PC"

You cannot believe how many people on campus have Apples, why, a good majority of them are probably not as computer-literate as others so they just jump with the brand with all those sucessful iPods. My laptop costed $1300, an Apple equivalent costs about $2200...

As for the OP, no computer will "lag" unless you overload it with stuff it's not capable of doing. Browsing the internet and all that jazz, that laptop is fine. Gaming and even Photoshop, that thing is going to strain a little, especially with that crappy Video Card. I would say consider upping the processor but it looks extremely expensive to do so...

Personally I got a Dell Studio 14z:
- 2.4 GHz
- 3 GB Ram
- 9400M GeFORCE (not the best but it does the job)

I it.

The thread title is a bit ... err ... strange, as not all Dells are the same and one who has a Dell with a better Videocard will say different things than one with a worse. I have no Dell, but then i guess i can answer your question a bit better.

Your monitor has quite a high resolution and if you want to run WoW in this resolution it can get quite slow. It will run, but not really smooth. Solutions are either getting a comp with better videocard, any dedicated video card will do better than integrated. Or you run WoW in lower resolutions with lower details, if you dont mind.

Now other than that, do you want to take the comp with you and play, so you should know such a machine is really weak without power and will only have enough energy for maybe an hour. If you want it as desktop replacement for home, i would say go with a normal desktop, as even a low budget desktop will beat this one easily.

Edit: A link when searching for wow 4500 benchmark : http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread....20950879&sid=1

Edit: A link when searching for wow 4500 benchmark : World of Warcraft (en) Forums -> Low fps with Intel GMA 4500
he said basically the point i was trying to get across, so i'll reiterate what i was trying to state.

Just go out and look at computers for the graphics card ONLY. computer technology has been upgraded so much since WoW first came out that basically any processor, any amount of ram pre installed, and any hard drive will be perfectly capable of playing the game.

The video card is where computers are still lacking becuase Microsoft word and internet explorer aren't very video demanding. Even watching an Hd movie simply requires a fast processor and the required disc drive.

But when it comes to gaming you want to look for your graphics card upgrade.

The 4500 will literally be able to play WoW, yes. But when it comes down to it you wont want to play. you'll have about 25fps with all settings turned way down in a low population environment. If you're serious about playing in any sence, then you're going to want to maintain at least 25fps even in major cities.

I remember back in 2005 when i first started playing WoW the computer that i had at the time was from 2001 and i upgraded the ram from 256mb to 1gb, and i upgraded the video card with something in the price range of about 350 bucks. If i remember correctly it was a 7950.....but i could be wrong. and yea, 7950 is a great card even by todays standards believe it or not, but because of my processor it was bottlenecked. my processor was a 2.01ghz athalon processor. By basic computer power, graphics aside, my old computer was equal to one of the net-books that they sell nowadays.

with all that in mind i played with a solid 60fps\ back when they restricted the game's fps to 60 for some odd reason, at ALL times.

ok well can u suggest a laptop that would be able to run wow at a constant fps and wont cost any more than 400 pounds (gbp), because i keep finding laptops that have crappy gpu, thanks, btw check english(uk) sites, thanks

i'll see if i can just find my computer on a refurb website or something. just remember, refurbished is a hell of a lot cheaper, but it's only got a 90 day guarantee as opposed to a full year.

afk looking for a minute, brb

ok, well on second thought maybe i'll just let you pick your computer out, but a few good websites for you to look at are

tigerdirect.com
newegg.com
amazon.com

i'm not sure if those would be .uk sites for you or not, but those are some pretty good sites as far as finding cheap stuff goes.

That laptop should not even be considered for gaming unless you plan on playing older games. That's a integrated graphics card. It's meant for simple things that a non-gamer would do. Not for games.
