The 7000 series was quite ok, but nowadays costs way too much for its power compared to the 8000 series. a 7950 is more expensive than an 8800GT, not to mention the even faster GTS, which beat it easily. And with a powersupply with 450-500 watts you easily can use one 8800gts card with a dual core cpu, especially Intel.
If your PSU doesnt support the connectors, there are adaptors usually delivered with the card or cheap to get.
I for myself had a 7900GS running with an adaptor on a quality 300 watts PSU together with quite some hardware and dual core cpu and a 8800GTS doesnt need over 100 watts more than this card.
The totally useless hype in getting 700-1000 watts for even a single video solution just because people dont know the real usage of the systems is kinda annoying.

I hear you there, I Dont even have a 700 watt psu, im just saying, if he grabs a card that his pc cant handle hes going to wind up paying more for another power supply.
Newegg.com - EVGA 512-P2-N756-TR GeForce 8600 GT 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
Here ya go. Cheap, Reliable, 512mb, its DDR2 but if you plan on playing wow, your set. 350 minimum psu req. Your NOT going to be able to handle much better for games with that processor, even if you upgrade your gfx, the minimum speed for Dual Core these days for vista and gaming is 2.2+GHZ, this will keep you going though, especially for wow.
In fact, this card is ridiculously cheap for an 8600gt now that i look at it, i plan on buying this for my girlfriends computer for x-mas which im building. i guess im now thanking YOU!

He doesn't need a top of the line card but it never hurts if you can afford it.
I'm currently running wow at 1400x900 at max setting's and getting 30 to 40 fps with a 7300gs with no noticable lag even in shatt and org(org actully busy place on my current server).
There is a slight OC core @ 569 and mem@ 591
First ?? should have been do you know the stats on your power supply that will determine what vid card you can get unless you want to upgrade both

I know, there great cards, i used to have one, until it blew up on me but that was because i overclocked it. I wouldnt suggest it though as your better off shelling the 20 bucks for a higher series card.
The 7300 cards are VERY prone to overheating, the fans are cheap and flimsy and i wouldnt suggest buying one at this day and age unless you want your computer to catch fire like mine did.
Now i know you think im contradicting what i said, but the fact is i mention the 7xxx Series cards, nothing specific. Now the 7600+ cards are another story, not only are they dramatically advanced as compared to the 7300 but they're more realiable and last longer. Not only that but some 7300's dont come with a fan. they just have a heat sink.
Frist? whats Frist? You mean first?

Perfectly ok fury i was just useing my card as an example that he doesn't need a top of the line card if he either cant afford it or doesn't want to fork out that kinda cash to get it.
I'm curently runing a after market cooler on mine with temps around 46c idle, at load around 50c.

Yeah like i said its a GREAT card, when i got it as an upgrade from my 6800gt 128mb it blew all my games out of the water, f.e.a.r at max settings, wow at max resolutions. i never invested in an aftermarket cooler so that probably would've saved me the trouble of it catching on fire. but if he got that card along with an aftermarket cooler itd cost maybe 15 dollars more, and they dont make coolers for the 7300gt unless you pick one up on ebay

XFX GeForce 8800 GS Video Card - 384MB DDR3, PCI Express 2.0, SLI Ready, (Dual Link) Dual DVI, HDTV, Video Card PVT88SFDF4 at TigerDirect.com
but again most depends on the psu's stats

Inside your case, it should be a huge block with a fan on it, where you plug your computer.

Or just go with an Ati 4670 or 4650 and dont buy a new powersupply as those cards need less energy than even older cards and they should usually work even with a 250Watts PSU and Core2 processor

Well, here in germany the 4670 you can get very easy, even in the local comp stores and the 4650 is available at nearly every internet store, both for good prices, so they should be in the states at least in internet shops, too
4670 from Asus: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121274
4650: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...27384&Tpk=4650
Both will easily run WoW, are relatively cheap and use few power, actiually i would spend the 15 dollars more for the Asus card as i consider Asus one of the best brands for video cards and its a bit better than the 4650
