Hmm, I see:
-Insults
-Confirmation of my argument
-Dodging the issue with more insults
You're right up there with cat in your debate skills. Bravo, mister "I have 2976 posts but you're the nerd loser who sits in front of the computer all day".
I'm not a hardcore soccer watcher, I'm just not an ignorant prick...
Soccer is a bigger sport outside of the US. In Europe it is huge. I've been stationed in Germany for 5 years. There are few things that drunk Germans will fight you over, and soccer is one of them.
People in the US watch soccer once every four years, then stop watching it when the Americans lose... No one gives a **** about soccer in the US. Not saying I give a **** either, but 90% of the people who are currently so involved and love soccer so much are full of **** and are only jumping on the bandwagon.
I know what overrated means, but still, my point stands that you can't talk **** about sports if you've never played one in your entire life and you spend the majority of your life sitting at a computer eating Doritos.

I presented my opinion and was immediately flamed for it; I figure for someone as prejudiced as that, the only thing that will even come close to getting through is straight insults.
If that wasn't clear enough, templar, you are stupid and you deserve to be in the army where you belong, away from normal functioning members of society.
[Mod Edit]
3 countries in the World call it soccer, the other 190 or so know it as football.
I'm not sure why the Americans called their sport football when A: the name was already taken.
B: it is throwing ball.
Directed to whomever thinks soccer is overrated.
travel outside the U.S.
Also a question for you to ponder.
What is the most popular sports league in the World.
If you didn't answer the English Premier League you are wrong and are probably in dire need of experiencing the rest of the World.

If being a normal functioning member of society means being a fat piece of **** sitting behind a computer all day, then I'll glady stay away from that.
Edit: On topic now... Watching Germany since the US is now out of it. Will root for my second home since I've been stationed there for years now. Germans all over are going nuts, it's pretty insane.

WHAT DID I SAY WOOO NETHERLANDS!!!!! woo
Planes over everything
Currently living in Zambia, Africa, I can say with certainty that it's Football. 99% of the world agrees - enough said.
Funkybomb said it well (as usual).
Also, can we stop with the childish flames? Even the smartest person sounds dumber when they flame.
It's Football. And I'm sad about Brazil.
GO GHANA
Fallacy: argumentum ad populum.
You may thank overzealous sports fans for starting that. I stand by my earlier statement that it's overrated and its fans have a tendency to be unstable. Also, can we stop with the childish flames? Even the smartest person sounds dumber when they flame.
(more funny image strawman fights to follow)

This valiant attempt makes no sense. I know this fallacy, but when it comes to naming something it doesn't work.
I have a son. I name him Frank. My wife calls him Frank. The entire extended family calls him Frank. All of his friends and acquaintances call him Frank.
You walk up and call him Bob.
I say that everyone calls him Frank, he was named Frank.
You insist he is Bob, claiming the same fallacy.
Does that make sense to you?
Anyways, here's a decent essay on this topic: http://soccerlens.com/why-do-america...t-soccer/3360/

Claiming that something is true simply because a large number of people say so is a fallacy. Your argument may be correct, but claiming "Everybody says it's this, so it is this" as a reason is fallacious. One is unrelated to the truth of the other.
In your example, it'd be akin to everybody suddenly calling your son Billy. When they all called him by his name, they were correct. When they all call him something different, they are incorrect.
Much better research. To be fair, I do realize that most of the world calls it football, but I also know how to differentiate between conversations about the two.Anyways, here's a decent essay on this topic: Why Do Americans Call It Soccer?

W H Y G H A N A W H Y???
I don't care who wins the cup, as long as Netherlands beats Uruguay.
That hand ball was disgusting...
I'm amazed Brazil went out so early. Can't wait for the argentina germany match
I thought if anyone did take Brazil it would be most likely Holland.
People are surprised but to be honest, Holland breezed through their qualifiers and were ranked 4th in the World before the start.
Germany and Argentina dislike each other which will make a great match.
Kind of funny since Argentina welcomed German Nazis that fled after the war with open arms
I don't really like either team but think Maradona's a douche so go Germany.
FIFA is probably gunning for Holland being there's alot of Dutch decendants in SAfrica. I wonder if the refs will.
Holland needs a win . Lost twice in the finals 1974 and 78.
